Who do we worship?

By Worship From Home Team

Worship is a central practice in the Christian faith, and understanding whom we worship is crucial to our spiritual journey. In Christianity, worship is directed towards God, who is revealed in the Bible—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Here’s a closer look at who we worship and why.

1. God the Father

God the Father is the Creator and Sustainer of all things. He is all-powerful, all-knowing, and ever-present. He is the source of all life and the ultimate authority over the universe. When we worship God the Father, we acknowledge His greatness, sovereignty, and the role He plays in our lives and in the world. Jesus taught us to address God as our Father, saying in Matthew 6:9, "This, then, is how you should pray: 'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.'"

2. Jesus Christ, the Son

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is both fully God and fully man. Jesus came to earth to reveal God to us, to teach us how to live, and to provide the ultimate sacrifice for our sins through His death and resurrection. When we worship Jesus, we honor His sacrifice, celebrate His resurrection, and acknowledge Him as our Savior and Lord. Philippians 2:9-11 says, "Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."

3. The Holy Spirit

He is God’s presence within us, guiding, comforting, and empowering us to live according to God’s will. The Holy Spirit convicts us of sin, leads us into truth, and helps us to grow in our faith. Worshiping the Holy Spirit involves recognizing His work in our lives and yielding to His guidance. John 4:24 reminds us, "God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth."

4. The true God

Christian worship is ultimately directed towards  the Lord.

Why Do We Worship God?
Because of Who He Is

We worship God because of His nature and character. He is holy, loving, just, merciful, and faithful. He is worthy of all honor and praise simply because of who He is. Revelation 4:11 declares, "You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will, they were created and have their being."

Because of What He Has Done

God’s actions in history and in our personal lives give us countless reasons to worship Him. He created the universe, sustains it, and has a plan for its redemption. Most importantly, He sent Jesus to save us from our sins and to offer us eternal life. Psalm 103:2-5 encourages us, "Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s."

In Christianity, we worship the —Father.  This worship is rooted in a deep recognition of who God is and what He has done.  worship is a response to God's incredible love, grace, and power, and it draws us closer to Him, transforming our lives and strengthening our faith.
